I’ve loved to create stories for as long as I can remember; characters come tumbling out of my brain and worlds develop around them. I have always wanted to be a writer but, somehow, life got in the way – with writing happening ‘in between’.

Si'Empra: Book 1

Skyseeker Princess

She was Ülrügh trained to become Si’Empra’s leader. But now she’s living her life as a fugitive

Highborn Ellen, the Ülrügh’s daughter, has fallen out of favour with the ruling cliques who chose her brother to lead them. Faced with his abuse, she escapes into the mountains. She’s welcomed by refugees, villagers and the Crystalmakers, but she’s hunted and endangers the very people offering her friendship.

But, undaunted by threats to her own safety, she deflects dangers to others and uses her extensive royal training to bargain with questionable individuals to feed the desperate and forgotten people of Si’Empra. She makes promises she might not be able to keep and some she should never make. Ellen’s in danger of not even being able to save herself, let alone those she’s made promises to …

Can Ellen’s guile unite factions in Si’Empra before her brother destroys all?

Skyseeker Princess is the first book in the captivating Si’Empra: The Storyteller and the Webcleaner contemporary fantasy series. If you like character-driven stories, beautiful Antarctic-like settings, and complex emotional journeys, then you’ll love Miriam Verbeek’s vividly imagined tale.

Si'Empra: Book 2

Ülrügh

“I promise that when (you are Ülrügh) I will serve you with every fibre of my being.” Müther said these words and Ellen doesn’t like them at all. But Ellen has unwittingly set wheels in motion: tipping Skyseeker leadership into further disarray; causing Crystalmakers to wonder about the leadership of the Guild Masters; and bringing Norm Tucker onto the island. Ellen knows she has to challenge the Lianthem; but has she left that challenge too late? Has the toll of years as a refugee weakened her too much? Will she accept the Cryptals’ help to make her strong? She knows that to accept such help will destroy her. In the end there may be no alternative.
